Alex as Mephisto

WARNING: I will not tolerate religious fanatics here just because the song or the literary references on it. It's just a drawing and just characters. OK?

Inspired on the song March of Mephisto by Kamelot and on Goethe's Faust.

And in fact, The Black Halo, the album of the song who inspired this drawing was inspired on Goethe's Faust, as well as Epica album (Listen some of it here ^^).

Well, he's Alex, the second guitarrist of the fictional rock/metal band Five Drops of Sorrow, the band where my character Kanaru is on the universe I created for most of my characters. I sketched already that universe when I was still on Captain Tsubasa fandom, but recently I decided to take that universe more seriously.

Alex (real name: Alexander Reina) was created in 2006 year, as well as his girlfriend, Lisha, the first guitarrist of that band. Initially he and Lisha were created just for being a part of the environment of Kanaru when she began to live in Spain on my fics of CT. And then, they began to get their own life. He, apart of being a skilled guitar player, he also sings, especially on gutural and growlings.

Before of form with Lisha that band, Alex formed part with Lisha, too, of a visual kei style band where he had another nickname, Lesan, and he used to had a long, long hair, very well cared, and he dressed as a girl. But with the end of the project, named Samara, he cut off his hair and he decided to dress as a boy.

Now, the explaining of the drawing. The albums Epica and The Black Halo by Kamelot are an story inspired on Goethe's Faust and probably it's easier to understand the lyrics if you already read the book before. The main character, 'Ariel' was also so disappointed an desperated like Faust (the character) and yes, there is someone in the story named Mephisto, who is Mephistopheles. In fact, I wanted to name the drawing like "Alex as Mephistopheles" but it would be too long XD (And in the lyrics of Kamelot music, the name is shorten as Mephisto, so I kept it as it).

If you know, Mephistopheles is considered the "spirit of negation" and it's one of the names who was given to the devil. So, technically, Alex is costuming the devil itself XD. And, you noticed the two feathers on Alex's hair: There are two rooster feathers. Peter, one of Christ disciples, negated him three times (at least, even the Gospels contradict themselves about the moments, quantity of times of negations or even quantity of times the rooster sang XD) before of the singing of the rooster in the Bible. So, because negation, according to mythology, Mephistopheles used a rooster feather in the hat for distinguish itself.

Yes, here it's a decoration for the hair and not a hat, and I designed the dressing, also inspired in the way Alex likes to dress on Five Drops of Sorrow.

"Faust" is a legend of German folklore. More info here. Johann Wolfang von Goethe's masterpiece was a reinterpretation of this legend and this one was the based for the music who inspired this drawing, and the drawing itself.

Mephistopheles is the name given to devil in Faust's legend. More info here. The devil is the incarnation of 'what is bad' concept on Abrahamic religions.
